Silverfish are small annoying insects that can cause considerable damage if left unchecked.
Since the diet of silverfish can include such diverse things as paper, sugar, coffee, carpet, clothing, glue found in book bindings, cotton, silk and even synthetic fibers, they are capable of inflicting a lot of damage.
Even though silverfish can be destructive and a nuisance, they do not spread disease. The natural predators of silverfish are house centipedes, earwigs and spiders.

1/ Lining cupboard shelves with newspaper will keep silverfish out of your cupboards.

3/ Put some camphor blocks in the bottom of your wardrobes to keep silverfish out.
4/ After cleaning your door mats, spray the backs of them with a little mineral turpentine to repel them. As an added bonus this will also keep fleas away.
5/ Put a few drops of oil of turpentine (also called spirits of turpentine or pure turpentine and should not to be confused with mineral turpentine which is a completely different How Long To Clean House product) in the bottom of chests, cupboards and drawers.
